Fears of outsourcing work to a Virtual Assistant

When thinking about hiring a Virtual Assistant there can be many fears that may hold you back… this is normal as trusting someone you don’t know with parts of your business can seem scary. Although, using a VA can be one of the best things you’ll decide to do.

Just think about all the free time you will have to focus on the important parts of your business, rather than worrying about your admin work and uploading on your social media.

Here are some of the fears you may have when thinking about hiring a Virtual Assistant and reasons that will hopefully help you overcome this.

1. I have to give over my private information

It may seem worrying having to give your private information to a complete stranger. Although to put your mind at rest there will be a confidentiality clause within your contract, this means that by law you are not allowed to share this information with another person or business. If this is something that worries you, there is a website called LastPass where you can share your usernames and passwords without them knowing what your passwords are.

2. I won’t know what my Virtual Assistant is working on and the time taken

To be able to know what your VA is working on there are time tracking apps such as YourVAHub (which is what we use), this means you can log in at any time to see what we are working on and what has and hasn’t been completed. At the end of the month, we will then send you a copy of the time sheet to see how many hours we have spent on your work and the hours we have charged you for.

3. Will they take a lot of training and supervision?

At first you will have to spend some time talking about your business, how you work and what you’d like them to do, although once they know this they normally get straight into their tasks with no disturbance. Although if you find you are spending a lot of time supervising them then they may not be the right VA for you. Make sure you read reviews beforehand so you get an idea of how they work!

4. It will be quicker to do the work myself

At first you may think it will be quicker to do this work yourself. Although once you have delegated tasks to a VA you will realise how much more time you will have to spend on your more important work, which means it will be to a higher standard and always be completed.
